Alexander helped launch city’s MLS bid in 2016
NASHVILLE (November 29, 2018) – Nashville’s Major League Soccer (MLS) team announced today the hiring of Nashville native Will Alexander as Chief Revenue Officer.
Alexander, who has been involved in Nashville’s MLS push since its inception as a co-founder of the MLS2Nashville committee in 2016, will join the new soccer club from Hall Capital, where he served as managing director. His first day with the team will be December 1 and he will report to Nashville MLS CEO Ian Ayre.
“Will has been a key part of Nashville’s MLS journey since the very beginning and I’m delighted that he’s going to be our new club’s chief revenue officer,” said Ayre. “Having the right person develop and oversee our revenue strategy will be critical to our organization’s success and Will’s skills and experience are a great fit for this role. The many relationships he formed in the business community during the city’s MLS bid will also be a real advantage as we begin building our roster of corporate partners and marketing our premium seating.”
Nashville MLS lead owner John Ingram added, “Two years ago, Will came to see me about being the lead investor in Nashville’s MLS bid and I jumped at the opportunity. He and Bill Hagerty laid the groundwork for Nashville’s effort to bring MLS to Nashville. Will was instrumental in Nashville’s MLS expansion bid process and I’m thrilled that he’s going to join our club on a full-time basis.”
Alexander will be responsible for all the revenue of the new Major League Soccer club, including all key income generating initiatives, such as sponsorships, naming rights, merchandising, and ticketing.
The addition of Alexander to Nashville MLS’ senior management team is part of the club’s continued growth and marks the next phase in the organization’s development as it prepares for its inaugural MLS season.
Alexander’s career has included stints in investing, entrepreneurship, public service and law. Prior to his time at Hall Capital, he co-founded an educational startup and served as chief of staff of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. He began his career practicing corporate law in Texas and the United Arab Emirates.
“I’m grateful and excited about this opportunity,” said Alexander. “Bringing MLS to Nashville has long been a passion of mine and it’s an honor to be a part of something that is going to have such a significant impact on our city.”
